Many of these calls are 'harvesters'.... if you answer, you may get a sales pitch, or something similiar...but often, by answering a number you don't recognize, you automatically told their computer that your phone is 'live'....and the number (thousands of them, by the way, just like yours) are sold to telemarketers. One thing I've learned is, that if someone I know is trying to reach me, they'll leave a message. If they leave no message, then likely that insidious computer lists your number as inactive. There's nothing scientific about this answer, it's just my opionion...however, my calls have been cut in more than half, just by not answering. I don't know anyone in New Jersey, and do not do business with any firm there, so...they don't need my number in their list, I assure you. Hope this helps some of you!

Had received calls from this number a few times in the last month or so but no message was left. I answered today and it is a fundraiser for the Royal Canadian Legion. I have donated in the past and they were calling me from the list of previous donors. No hassle, just asking for a donation.

i am 60 have no chase cards and i get calls day and night. maybe debtors had the phones and creditors still call.

I believe this to be a telemarketer call. Calls several times a week and no one responds, it sounds like someone is holding the phone and then hangs up. When I call back it is either busy or no answer.
